When Hennything Is Possible!

In honor of E.A.T turning 1 year old, I decided to come up with a recipe that involves 2 party favorites: Hennessy and Wings.  Now I know I don’t eat chicken, but this barbecue sauce can be used on hennything!  It’s sweet, spicy, and delicious – just like me!

*This sauce is kid friendly*

Ingredients:

1 cup ketchup

2/3 cup dark brown sugar

1 garlic clove – grated

3 oz of Hennessy

2 Tbsp. onion – finely diced

2 Tbsp. butter – divided in 2

1 Tbsp. yellow mustard

1/2 Tbsp. vinegar

2 tsp. honey

1 tsp. red pepper flakes

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. black pepper

1/2 tsp. lemon zest

1/2 tsp. garlic salt

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/4 tsp. mustard powder

Lets Cook:

1. Add 1 Tbsp. butter to a small pot on medium low.  Once butter has melted, add your onion and cook until soft and translucent.

2. Add your garlic and lemon zest and cook for 30 seconds.

3. Add ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard, vinegar, honey, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic salt, garlic powder, and mustard powder -stir.  Let the sauce simmer for 30 minutes – stirring every so often.

4. *Please be careful with this step* Turn the heat back up, to medium low, and add Hennessy.  To make this sauce kid friendly, you have to burn off the alcohol, so light a match, tilt the pot, and light it on fire.  Please, please, be careful because this will flame up and can take your eyebrows from on fleek to gone! Plus, I don’t want anyone to hurt themselves or their home.  Let it burn off for about 30 seconds and then blow the flame out, like a birthday candle.

5. Turn heat off and stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter.

6. The sauce is done!  I served this sauce on wings but it can be served on anything that you would serve with barbecue sauce.

7. To make the wings:  I fried them birthday suited – naked (no flour, batter, or seasonings) until done and crispy.  You want them crispy so that when you add the sauce, your chicken wings don’t become soggy.  Lightly toss them in the barbecue sauce and it’s a PARTY IN YOUR MOUTH!!!

Enjoy All Things.
